Li'l Sambas Girls Programs and Details

Li'l Sambas Girls Soccer Programs

Until now all of our programs have been coed programs, however, we have had a number of requests for a girls-only program. We offer girls-only programs and house leagues. The girls' developmental programs kicked off in Spring 2024, and the Girls House League in Summer 2024

How does the girl's program differ to the regular Li'l Sambas Program? - The design of the sessions, drills, and skill development will be the same as the regular L'il Sambas program. The difference for the girls enrolled in the girls program will be that their sections will be all girls and they will be coached by female coaches. Girls are still welcome to register for any of our mixed programs too.

Our Philosophy

We want to provide our young soccer players maximum individual teaching time with our professional coaching staff and role models. We will help foster intrinsic values by igniting a passion for the game in a fun-filled environment while eliminating extrinsic values by distancing our young soccer players from the external undue pressures of the adult game.

WHY SMALL SIDED GAMES?

  • Individual technical development by touching the soccer ball more often, therefore becoming more skillfull
  • Tactical development by making more quality decisions during the game
  • Reduced field size allows players to be more physically efficient in the field space in which they are playing
  • More opportunity to solve problems that only the game presents
  • More exposure to attacking and defending situations
  • More opportunities to score goals!

The “Small-Sided” environment is a developmentally appropriate environment for our young soccer players. It’s a FUN environment that focuses on the player.

Ball Mastery Games

Our Core Skills Model focuses on the 4 R’s of technique:

  • Receiving skills: on the ground and in the air
  • Retaining the ball: protect and escape moves
  • Running with the ball: core dribbling techniques
  • Releasing the ball: ball striking techniques on the ground and in the air

Physical Literacy Games

What is Physical Literacy?

"Physical literacy is the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge, and understanding to value and take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life."  - The International Physical Literacy Association, May 2014

All physical activity is a lot more fun when we’re physically literate. If we want children to be active for life, ideally they will need to develop physical literacy at a young age during the early stages of Long-Term Athlete Development: Active Start, FUNdamentals, and Learn to Train.

The Elements of Physical Literacy

  • Motivation and confidence - an individual’s enthusiasm for, enjoyment of, and self-assurance in adopting physical activity as an integral part of life.
  • Physical competence - an individual’s ability to develop movement skills and patterns, and the capacity to experience a variety of movement intensities and duration's. Enhanced physical competence enables an individual to participate in a wide range of physical activities and settings.
  • Knowledge and understanding -the ability to identify and express the essential qualities that influence movement, understand the health benefits of an active lifestyle, and appreciate appropriate safety features associated with physical activity in a variety of settings and physical environments.
