The sessions will be on the indoor turf field at the University of Ottawa Lees Dome on the Lees Campus of Ottawa U.

Note: The University of Ottawa has two campuses and two turf fields. Make sure you are heading for the Lees Dome or GeeGees Field on the LEES Campus, not Matt Anthony Field on the MAIN Campus.

Parking

Parking Lot G3 is where you should park and is on your left just after you enter campus. That is the parking for the dome and the dome itself is straight ahead on the same road. Parking passes will be handed out to you on the first day. We will have them just inside the doors at the dome.

Spectating

A parent must be on the field with their kids at all times for the Wee Copas program.

For all other age groups, parents are welcome to watch from the sidelines. Masks are not currently mandated within the dome.

Uniform

If you already have your uniform from one of our earlier sessions, you are good to go.

If this is your first time in the program and you have purchased a uniform, the uniform consists of shirt, shorts and socks and you will be able to try the sizes against your child to get the best fit. We have a wide range of sizes available.

Uniform Pickup: You can pick up your uniform at the field any time from 20 minutes before your first session. You will be able to try the sizes against your little one to make sure you get the right size.

If you are registered for the House League, you will need to pick up the pinnie with your team colour for this season, even if you already have the blue Li'l Sambas uniform.

Equipment

You should purchase shin-guards for your little ones if they don't have them already.

If they already have soccer cleats, or you want to purchase them, great. However, if they don't have them, they will be absolutely fine with their regular running shoes or tennis shoes too.

Other than that, all they need are the basic things you would need for any program: a water bottle (prefilled), a sweater if you think they will be cold etc

General Information for Li'l Sambas Summer Programs
7 July 2023 @ 3:04 AM by Chris Surgeoner

General Information about Li'l Sambas Summer Programs

The programs begin on Friday 7th, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of July

  • Double-check that you are registered to the correct programs: log into the website and click on "My Programs" in the top menu and you can view your program details (on a cellphone it is the button that says "Top" to drop down the top menu). If you believe you are registered for the wrong age group or time let me know.
  • Important reminder for Wee Copas (pre-school age-group): A parent must be on the field with their kids at all times for the Wee Copas program.
  • Other than those parents, we ask that all parents and spectators watch from OUTSIDE the fence for at least the first couple of weeks. There is a grassy hill that provides a good spectating area. We appreciate your help with this, it helps to reduce the amount of people around the field.
  • Update on game times for the Sunday morning house league: The 6-7s groups will always play at 9.45, and the 8-9s teams and 10-11s teams will play at 10.30am. This only applies to the Sunday league games.

General Information for all sessions and age-groups

If you are continuing from the current session most of this will be familiar to you, and you can probably skip the remainder of this e-mail.

Parking

There is loads of free parking at the school. There are spaces immediately on your right-hand side as you turn into the school grounds and a large car park at the top of the small incline beside the field and two other huge lots behind the school,

You may not park or wait on the access road between the entrance and the main car park as this causes congestion and creates a safety issue by blocking the view of other drivers at a time when there are a lot of kids and parents coming in and out. Any parents continually infringing this will be asked to leave the program

Location

The location is the field at Immaculata High School, 140 Main Street click here for map etc.

Washrooms are available, they are inside the school and can be accessed from the doors opposite the gate at the middle of the field. Once inside the building, they are to your right (down the stairs/ramp)

If you are driving the only access to the car parks is from Main Street (the entrance is next to the Subway sandwich shop). Please remember that Main Street has a well-used cycle lane that runs alongside it - please be careful as you enter or exit the school and do an extra shoulder check for cyclists. There is no vehicle access from the Echo Drive/canal side of the school, but you can walk or cycle onto the campus from there.

Uniform

If you already have your uniform from one of our earlier sessions, you are good to go.

If this is your first time in the program and you have purchased a uniform, the uniform consists of shirt, shorts and socks and you will be able to try the sizes against your child to get the best fit. We have a wide range of sizes available.

Uniform Pickup - You will be able able to pick up your uniform at the first session.

Equipment

You should purchase shin-guards for your little ones if they don't have them already.

If they already have soccer cleats, or you want to purchase them, great. However, if they don't have them, they will be absolutely fine with their regular running shoes or tennis shoes too.

Other than that, all they need are the basic things you would need for any program: a water bottle (prefilled), sweater or sun hat and sunscreen as required.

We look forward to meeting you this weekend,

The Li'l Sambas Team

Hello everyone,

Last Day to Save $50 on Spring and Summer Kids Soccer
20 February 2023 @ 4:42 PM by Chris Surgeoner

This is the last day of our early bird registration offer which saves you $50 if you register for the spring and summer combination for the upcoming outdoor season. We've had a terrific response already over 150 kids signed up already and we are looking forward to another fantastic outdoor season at Immaculata. See below for full details of the early bird promotion:

Here are a few questions that we have been asked several times over the past week since the promotion opened.

  • Is this offer only open to returning players?: No it is open to both returning players and new players, feel free to pass it on to friends, but don't forget that the offer ends today.
  • If we want to come at different times in spring and summer, can we still register for the combination?: Yes, this has been quite a common request. Just register in whichever time slot you want for the SPRING season and put in the notes that you want the time to change in the summer. (e.g Tangos at 9am on Saturday for Spring and 6.30pm on Friday in summer)
  • Do we still get the discount for the house league if we want to combine the development program on Friday or Saturday with the Sunday house league? Yes, you can add-on the spring and/or summer house league when you register for Friday or Saturday and you will be charged half price for the Sunday
  • When will registration for the spring session only be available?: We will be posting the registration for the spring session only either tomorrow or Wednesday.
  • Is registration available for the summer camps yet? Not yet, we will post the information and open registration for that as soon as we have the details finalised.

IMPORTANT: Today's Li'l Sambas is Cancelled, Extreme Weather
4 February 2023 @ 7:49 AM by Chris Surgeoner

Update February 4th: This week's session cancelled

I am afraid that we are going to have to cancel Saturday February 4th's session due to the extreme weather. I am very concerned about both the walk from the car park to the dome in a wind chill of minus 40 and that the heating at the dome will have managed to get the temperature up to a high enough temperature by 9am tomorrow morning,

THE PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGE GROUPS WILL NOW START NEXT WEEK ON FEBRUARY 11th. The program will remain the same number of sessions, it will just finish one week later in April,

Stay warm everyone,

Chris and the Li'l Sambas Team

  • Unfortunately, our winter programs are more expensive than the outdoor programs you are currently participating in, purely because renting an indoor dome over winter is significantly more expensive than renting an outdoor field in the summer (about 3 to 4 times the price).
  • Due to dome availability, we are only able to offer the programs on Saturday mornings. This gives us a far smaller capacity than we have for the outdoor programs and we will only be able to accommodate about 50% of the participants that we have in the current programs. All programs are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • We want to give our current participants the first chance to register for the programs, and we will have a pre-sale for our current players from today until Monday morning. On Monday we will begin to advertise the programs to everyone.
  • We will not be able to offer the Sunday House League program during the winter seasons. The Sunday house league will resume in spring.

You can find the list of programs and registration on the front page of the Li'l Sambas website.

General Information for Li'l Sambas Fall Programs
7 September 2022 @ 10:05 PM by Chris Surgeoner

General Information about Li'l Sambas Fall Programs

The programs begin on Friday 9th, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of September

  • Wee Copas (JK and SK) are on field two (the middle field)
  • Li'l Sambas (1st & 2nd grade) are on field one (the field closest to the entry gate on Main street)
  • Tangos (Grades 3,4 & 5) are on field three (the furthest field from the gate.
  • A schedule/field allocation for the Sunday morning house leagues will be online in the next few days.

A parent must be on the field with their kids at all times for the Wee Copas program. Other than those parents, we ask that all parents and spectators watch from OUTSIDE the fence. There is a grassy hill that provides a good spectating area.

Uniform Pickup: You can pick up your uniform at the field any time from 30 minutes before your first session. You will be able to try the sizes against your little one to make sure you get the right size.

Registration for our Fall Kids Programs is Now Open for Everyone!
4 August 2022 @ 9:34 PM by Chris Surgeoner

Registration is now open for our fall outdoor/indoor kids programs. We have had our presale for our current players and all spaces are now open to everyone to register.

The age groups are similar to the summer programs, and the other key information is:

  • Fall programs run from September 9th/10th/11th (the weekend after Labour Day) to the first week of November, with no sessions on Thanksgiving weekend.
  • Start times are similar to the summer times.
  • The cost is the same as the summer programs.
  • The sessions will be OUTDOOR then INDOOR. We'll be at Immaculata outdoors until roughly Thanksgiving, and then the final few sessions after Thanksgiving will be indoor on the turf field in the RA Centre's dome (Riverside Drive, about 5 minutes drive from Immaculata). This allows us to enjoy the September weather (usually not too hot and not too cold - our favourite time of year for outdoor soccer - and then move indoors before the temperature starts to drop significantly. I don't think there is another kids soccer program that offers the best of both worlds in the fall like this, so we are excited to be able to utilise both venues.

Don't forget, if you want your kids to play in both the house league and developmental programs, you can add-on the house league program for 50% off the normal price (just $70!)

To register for both select the Friday or Saturday program of your choice, and choose "Add On House League Program" when prompted and you will only be charged an additional $70 to add the house league.

You can find all of the programs on the front page of our website.
